Welcome to “Ukulele – Level Two,” Bartt’s popular workshop taught at the wonderful Coffee Gallery Backstage, in Altadena.

For those who have taken Bartt’s beginner-level class, this is the next course in the series – and you get another salary point. If you have NOT taken Bartt’s Level One class, you’re still welcome to join us, provided that you have some basic experience on ukulele, guitar, or other similar instrument.

And yes, non-teachers are welcome, so you can enroll a spouse or friend. It’s a Beginner-Plus/Intermediate-level class, taught by LAUSD Teacher of the Year and acclaimed ukulele virtuoso Bartt Warburton. It’s designed for teachers, but the course is also open to the general public.

The emphasis is on having fun with ukulele. Lots of fun! You’ll learn a ton of chords, including major, minor, seventh, diminished and augmented chords. You’ll learn to play melody and harmony. You’ll learn about quarter-notes and syncopation. You’ll learn a variety of strums and fingerpicking patterns, and we’ll explore Blues patterns. You’ll take a peek at software to make easy charts and tabs. You will write songs, play songs, and sing songs. You will laugh. You will have fun. You’ll let loose!

The class meets three times:

* Saturday, September 7, from 10:30 – 4:00

* Saturday, September 14, from 10:30 – 4:00

* Saturday, September 21, from 10:30 – 4:00

The Coffee Gallery is a cafe and concert hall with a relaxing

vibe, set up for food and comfort. We’ll have the entire concert room to ourselves, and ukuleles can be provided, with prior arrangements. And they also have coffee drinks!

The class fee is $149 and you get one salary point. Bartt provides everything: lessons, chord/song charts, booklets, instruments (with prior arrangements), video lessons, an online place to share ideas, and lots of loving support.

The classes always fill up quickly. You must register in advance by going to Bartt.net and clicking the LAUSD logo. No walk-ins. You must be registered online ahead of time. Please register very early to assure your spot.
